In your daily decisions and life decisions, who are you responsible to? Many. Yet, who will you answer to for your decisions and who is the ultimate consultant for making your decisions? The ultimate answer, of course, is God.

God’s direct contact for us is Jesus Christ. Christ’s church from the beginning, before there were people on the earth, was perfect and complete. It is the church of the gospel God taught Adam and the Old Testament prophets. When Christ walked the earth, the gospel he represented and taught was perfect, eternal, complete, unaltered, uncompromised, and therefore alien to the religions and cultures of that time.

Even though His church was then established on earth with all of its gifts and love; corruptive influences soon began to corrode the pure gospel and its practices until within a few centuries “the church” no longer contained enough of its original beliefs, practices and authority to restore itself. The pure, original gospel could then only be restored by Christ himself. Thank God He did. It seems that there must be a message in this: If Christ authored the Original Gospel and then personally restored it, who could possibly have the authority or audacity to criticize it or change it in the slightest?

As members of the Restoration we feel responsible for protecting and preserving the pristine gospel by dedication to it and acting upon it in love and responsibility.

Anyone proposing or teaching ideas or philosophies not originating in and approved by Christ himself is “out on a limb”, unattached to and unsupported by a strong living trunk with strong, living roots. They are cut off from the source of life, light and truth. Keep in mind that Christ is co-creator of the universe which contains all knowledge, all truth, all love and all discovered and undiscovered wonders.

Are those that long for Zion and see its present urgency “out on a limb”? No. They are strongly attached to and fed by the strong and living Trunk. The scriptures give more than adequate information and instruction for Zion today. God’s word will not return to him void.
